Lyric presents ‘RENT’ Nov. 8 – 11

Lyric Theatre Company will present “RENT,” the revolutionary rock musical adapted from the 1997 Academy Award nominated film of the same name. The musical ran for 770 performances on Broadway and was nominated for ten 2001 Tony Awards.

The Lyric artistic team includes artistic director Sara MacDonald, music director Nate Venet, and choreographer Kate Whalen. The 24-member cast of this local production hails from communities all over Vermont. While the cast is rehearsing, many volunteers are working behind the scenes at Lyric’s Warehouse in Williston. On any given night, you are likely to find volunteers of all ages and backgrounds building and painting sets, designing props, sewing costumes, marking lighting cues, preparing hair and make-up designs, and doing other tasks necessary to mount the $100,000+ production.

There will be five performances of “RENT” from Nov. 8-11, including matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The matinee performance on Sunday, Nov. 11 will be audio-described for the blind/visually impaired.

Tickets for “RENT” are on sale through the Flynn Center Regional Box Office in Burlington and Copy Ship Fax Plus in Essex Junction; by telephone: 802/86FLYNN; or online:
